Would you drive a transparent car?

In order to promote their new Helix Oil, the oil giant Shell wanted to show how their oil worked within a car engine and demonstrate how it would actively clean the engine.

They didn’t want to resort to computer generated imagery (CGI) or X-ray images of the car and it’s engine, so they hired and threw alot of money at Asylum Models and Effects to build a Nissan 370Z completely out of transparent perspex and have it fully functioning! An engineering marvel if you think about making a combustion engine out of plastic. The car comprises of 2000 parts all which had to be handmade and redesigned to work with perspex.

Imagine driving about in a completely see-through car, it would eliminate blind spots and never again could that excuse be used in car accident enquiries!  Though I’m not sure if I’d want everyone to see straight into my car while parked at a red light. At least it’s good news for car robbers who can look straight into your glovebox and see if your music collection is worth stealing!
